Westgate Shopping Centre, Oxford

Westgate Oxford is a premium destination in the heart of Oxford. As a joint venture between Landsec and the Crown Estate, this highly anticipated regeneration project was the largest UK shopping and leisure development to open in 2017.

Laing O’Rourke Construction were appointed to deliver this prestigious project, in association with Chapman Taylor Architects. The project, in part, replaced the 1970’s built Westgate Shopping Centre and provides 800,000 sq ft of contemporary fashion, film and food. It comprises of two levels of over 100 brands, including the 142,000 sq ft flagship John Lewis store.

Westgate social is an evolution in food court dining which provides 500 communal seats, including the city’s first public roof garden. Culinary names include The Breakfast Club, Stick’sn’Sushi and Pho. The Roofline Group were selected by Laing O’Rouke to provide the waterproofing solutions to Blocks 2 and 3 and the Existing Block 4, amounting to approx. 45,000m².

Contracted works: Structural hot melt to podiums, walkways and terraces, single ply membranes to roof areas, including acoustic systems to cinema roofs, metal decking, roof safety systems, AOV units, tapered insulation to main thoroughfares, cable suspension system for lighting, copings and carpentry works.
