Ordnance Survey HQ

Ordnance Survey HQ, Southampton, Hampshire

Kier Regional recently completed and handed over the new multi-million pound landmark headquarters at Adanac Park, Southampton to the word-famous mapping giant Ordnance Survey. Adanac Park boasts 16,400sq m of office space across three floors. A purpose-built environment which includes innovative technology and eco credentials, the new Ordnance Survey HQ offers an on-site nursery, shop, internet café, restaurant, lecture theatre and even an outdoor volleyball court. The development was designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and makes maximum use of natural resources and minimises greenhouse gas emissions wherever possible. This includes using ground source heat pumps, and natural ventilation through two chimney-shaped structures on the roof – designed to replicate ships’ funnels – to reduce the need for air conditioning. The Roofline group were very pleased to have assisted in the specification, design and installation of the entire waterproofing solution to this turnkey development, which is another example of an innovative, sustainable and low energy building.
