The Environment

Roofline are very serious about merging ‘green’ practices in to our everyday business
We have an extensive environment and sustainability programme and we provide some of the most efficient environmental systems available in the UK today. In order to limit the impact that we have on the environment we have calculated the carbon emissions that we produce. We have then offset this ‘carbon footprint’ and are independently verified as a carbon Zero rated company. This significant achievement has been realised through working with our external consultants, C02 balance, to implement carbon reduction policies throughout all business practices and through investments in verified carbon emission reduction programmes.

As part of our continued action to create a more sustainable future we have also been awarded STEM certification. Funded by the European Union Development Fund and Kent County Council, STEM (Steps to Environmental Management) is an achievement award as a result of putting and maintaining an environmental management system in place within a business.

More about C02 balance: Carbon Offsetting Projects
The projects that we support include co2balance’s African Energy Efficient Stove Project, which provides families in Kenya with fuel efficient cooking stoves that halve the amount of firewood consumed. As a result it prevents three tonnes of carbon emissions from being released each year. As well as saving carbon emissions, the project has social and financial benefits to the community as well as an environmental one. The stoves reduce the amount of time spent collecting firewood, are built locally and the reduced need for firewood helps prevent deforestation. They are a cleaner, safer and easier way of cooking, as well as healthier due to the significant decrease in smoke inhalation.
